Elmer Alexander Brown was born in 1920 (Ely Q1-1920 3B:1080), son of William and Lydia BROWN (née WATSON).

He married Phyllis GREENACRE in 1938 (Ely Q4-1938 3B:1459). They lived in Beck Row.


The 1st Battalion, King's Regiment formed part of the Chindit raiding parties in Burma. When Orde Wingate was killed in an air crash in March 1944, it was decided to disband the Chindit formations. Some were converted into airborne infantry battalions. The 1st King's was converted, and became the 15th (King's) Parachute Battalion of the Parachute Regiment and joined the 77th Indian Parachute Brigade attached to the 44th Indian Airborne Division where it remained for the rest of the war.

So far no details of what was happening when Elmer died has been found.
